Shattered

Cold heat smothers me

Licks of fire jetting out of ice

            An empty heart with broken eyes

            Pieces of lost humanity

A cornered animal stares

            Burning eyes brand my soul

            Molten flares of lava blind

Tortured moans shatter the din

Scalding tears scar my face

            Hands tremble uncontrollably

            A rasping hiss finds my ears

                        I hate you

Lethal barbs stab into my heart

            Acid scorches my throat

Alien embers of anguish watch me

            Widening as flame consumes

Guttural cries wrack the back shell

            Flame and darkness twist together

            Nausea leaves me gasping

A smoldering ruin lies withering

            Trails of smoke rise innocently

            Syllables choke from my lips

Bloodshot eyes are the only reply

The lava murmurs of suffering

Part of my soul is slashed away

            It smokes with the corpse below

My fingers grasp the recovered metal hilt

            Shattered memories now
